If you ever had a Texas Instruments TI/99 computer, what did you use it for?
I once had a Texas Instruments TI99/4A computer, which one of the first home computers. It only had about 16K or RAM, and for a monitor you hooked it up to a TV. Unless you spent a lot extra for a peripheral box you had do like me and store data on a cassette recorder.Even after Texas Instruments stopped making the computer other companies developed cartridges you could plug into it for doing a variety of things. One cartridge I bought for it allowed me to use a printer with a 2 pin printhead. Another cartridge let me do basic word processing. It wasn't fancy, but it was much better than using a typewriter. The TI99/4A also had a cartridge that let me program in its version of BASIC. I used that to write a simple artwork program that could create colorful "quilts" on the TV screen.Eventually I bought another home computer, but for a few years it was fun to use the Texas Instruments TI99/4A computer.

Human and Dinosaur footprint found together!
A slab of North Texas limestone is on track to rock the world, with its two imbedded footprints poised to make a huge impression in scientific and religious circles. The estimated 140-pound stone was recovered in July 2000 from the bank of a creek that feeds the Paluxy River near Glen Rose, Texas, located about 53 miles south of Fort Worth. The find was made just outside Dinosaur Valley State Park, a popular destination for tourists known for its well-preserved dinosaur tracks and other fossils. The limestone contains two distinct prints – one of a human footprint and one belonging to a dinosaur. The significance of the cement-hard fossil is that it shows the dinosaur print partially over and intersecting the human print. In other words, the stone’s impressions indicate that the human stepped first, the dinosaur second. If proven genuine, the artifact would provide evidence that man and dinosaur roamed the Earth at the same time, according to those associated with the find and with its safekeeping. It could potentially toss out the window many commonly held scientific theories on evolution and the history of the world.Finding scholars and experts on evolution,...

http://kotaku.com/dun-dun-dun%21/nintendo-patent-lawsuit-268760.phpIf you aren't able to click/cut-and-paste that link, it's a Kotaku article about Nintendo being dragged back to court over a patent that Texas Instruments allegedly invented and they're using. TI, you make my favorite calculators. Why are you going after Ninty for something that they probably came up with by coincidence? Is there no such thing as great minds thinking alike anymore? Don't make me trash my TI-86.
Google Phone launching end of 2007?
The on and off rumors of the Google phone still stir every now and then. However, we've heard from a healthy rumor, Digitimes; that HTC (Hight Tech Computer) is building the phone with initial shipments set to hit by the "end of 2007" and globally in 2008. The phones will feature Texas Instruments' 3G platform with EDGE and of course built-in-G-Mail and Google Maps, Unfortunately, they will not be GPS enabled. I wouldn't hold my breath on this rumor, as Digitimes doesn't have a good track record for rumors, so we can only wait and see.
Programmers in India work for a third of the price of American programmers.
A large number of foreign airlines, credit card companies, banks and corporations have moved their "back-office" work to India to cut costs. The United States accounts for more than 60 per cent of India's software exports which are forecast to grow 30 per cent to 47.5 billion rupees ($A1.63 billion) in the financial year ending March 2003.About 1,000 technology firms, including Intel, IBM, Dell, Texas Instruments, Motorola and General Electric, have set up base in the city - India's Silicon Valley - which has attracted about $US2 billion ($A3.26 billion) of investment. India has the world's second largest pool of English-speaking computer literates after the United States. Three years ago, when dotcom companies were booming, Indian code writers were much in demand in the US as they were paid one-third of the salary of a skilled American software professional. Is this Fact or Fiction?

Stupid is as stupid does
Here is a true collection of idiotic things people are doing everyday..as sent to me by email.. Can you add to this list?Be Careful Out There: IDIOT SIGHTING: We had to have the garage door repaired. The Sears repairman told us that one of our problems was that we did not have a 'large' enough motor on the opener. I thought for a minute, and said that we had the largest one Sears made at that time, a 1/2 horsepower. He shook his head and said, 'Lady, you need a 1/4 horsepower.' I responded that 1/2 was larger than 1/4. He said, 'NO, it's not.' Four is larger than two..' We haven't used Sears repair since. IDIOT SIGHTING My daughter and I went through the McDonald's take-out window and I gave the clerk a $5 bill. Our total was $4.25, so I also handed her a quarter. She said, 'you gave me too much money.' I said, 'Yes I know, but this way you can just give me a dollar bill back.' She sighed and went to get the manager who asked me to repeat my request. I did so, and he handed me back the quarter, and said 'We're sorry but they could not do that kind of thing.' The clerk then proceeded to give me back$1 and 75 cents in change. Do not confuse the...
